Red Sox Announce Whiteley as Field Manager

BRANTFORD, ON - The Brantford Red Sox, members of the Intercounty Baseball League are happy to announce that Shawn Whiteley has been hired as Field Manager for the 2023 season.

Shawn brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Brantford Red Sox. He has also run many elite skill development camps for different age groups over the years. Shawn was also a two-sport collegiate athlete, playing both hockey and baseball.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to be the new field manager for the Brantford Red Sox, a storied franchise in the IBL with a great fan base," says Shawn. "Rick [Pomerleau, Brantford Red Sox team owner] is building a talented young roster for the upcoming season and my goal would be to field a competitive team each game where I give the team and players an opportunity to be successful. We will be a strong team on the field, and be community leaders and role models to local youth players."

Shawn adds "I am a players coach, and believe through my baseball knowledge I will be able to help grow and develop each player we have on the Red Sox. It is important for all to buy into the team strategy for us to be a successful franchise. It is going to be a great season in Brantford!"
