IBL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP: Jackfish takes series lead over Leafs

WELLAND – Eight different Welland players drove in at least one run to lead the Jackfish to a 15-3 win over Toronto on Monday.  

Welland leads the best-of-five semifinal 2-1.

Steven Moretto singled, homered and drove in two runs and scored three times. Carlos Martinez, Caleb Feuerstake, Tyler Dupuis and Gianfranco Morello all had a pair of RBI. Hogan Brown, Ethan Hunt and James Smibert drove in a run apiece.

Alberto Guerrero threw six innings for the win, allowing three runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Leafs’ starter Marek Deska took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits over 3.1 innings. He struck out three and didn’t issue a walk.

For Toronto, Johnathan Solazzo homered and drove in two. Justin Marra went 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Jordan Castaldo had two hits.
