IBL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP: Baycats sweep Panthers to advance to final
KITCHENER – Barrie is off to the IBL final.
The third-seeded Baycats finished a three-game sweep of Kitchener on Tuesday at Jack Couch Park, beating the second-place Panthers 8-4.
Barrie will face the winner of Welland and Toronto.
In Game 3, Canice Ejoh went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI atop the Baycats’ lineup. Ryan Rijo also homered. Royce Ando went 3-for-5, Malik Williams picked up a pair of hits, and Hayden Jaco drove in a pair of runs on two hits.
Jeifry Nunez went six innings for the win. He allowed four runs on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Evan Soules earned the three inning save, only giving up one hit during the scoreless outing.
For Kitchener, Liam Wilson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Keegan Marsden also added a solo blast. Marcel Lacasse and Yunior Ibarra drove in the other runs, and Elliott Curtis singled twice.
Christian Hauck took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out six.
