Payano strikes out nine in Majors’ win

LONDON – London lefty Victor Payano fanned nine over six scoreless innings to lead the Majors to a 10-0 win over Chatham-Kent on Sunday at Labatt Park.  

Payano (1-1) scattered six hits and walked two as London moved to 10-5.

At the plate, Starling Joseph hit a three-run home run and Byron Reichstein added a solo blast. Victor Plaz went 4-for-5 with four RBI, Eduardo De Oleo drove in two on two hits, Champ Garner singled twice and had an RBI, and Andrew Lawrence added two hits.

For Chatham (6-11), Spencer Marcus, Seth Strong and Mitsuki Fukuda all had two hits.

Eric Pettipiece (0-1) gave up three runs on eight hits over five innings in the loss. He walked two and struck out two.
