Majors Add Versatility
LONDON - The London Majors are happy to announce the signing of infielder Tyler Wood.
The 6’1” Winnipeg native will join the Majors after finishing his Sr. year as the starting shortstop at McPherson College in Kansas. Wood will not be a stranger to his new teammates as recently signed catcher Hayden Jaco and Outfielder Adam Filmon have been teammates.
We asked Hayden Jaco to describe Tyler as a player and he said "He’s a gritty player, gets the job done, super versatile! I’ve seen him play all positions! Good contact stick in the lineup and will spray gaps." Fellow Winnipeg native Adam Filmom said that he has played against Tyler since age 12 along with playing on the provincial team for 3 years together.
Tyler was asked what emotions he has about joining the Majors “I am excited and blessed to get the opportunity to play for the Majors. Co-Owner, Manager and General Manager Roop Chanderdat was excited when asked about the young infielder Tyler is a good young player that will give us some depth in the infield, he can play short, 2nd and 3rd base. He will be coming off his senior year of college ball in the States so he will be ready to go and contribute to our team.”
The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
