Baycats edge Leafs
BARRIE – Barrie scored once in the sixth and seventh innings to edge Toronto 2-1 on Thursday at Vintage Throne Stadium.
Hayden Jaco had three of the Baycats’ seven hits. Adam Odd hit a solo home run as Barrie moved to 12-7.
Brandon Hillier (1-1) struck out four of the six batters he faced to earn the win in relief. Brad Grieveson locked down the save after giving up a hit and a walk. Frank Garces started and went six innings, allowing a run on seven hits with a walk and seven punchouts,
Dionysius Chialtas drove in the lone Toronto run. Ryan Dos Santos and Cole Murchison had a pair of hits apiece.
Greg Carrington (0-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in one inning of relief. Toronto starter Sam Greene went four scoreless innings and walked two and struck out four.
The Leafs fell to 7-17.
